Rose and Ceramic Jar, Oil on Canvas Panel

6x8 Oil Painting on Canvas Panel

It took me two days to finish this painting. I painted the jar first.  I was not sure if I could convincingly paint the designs on the jar (I posted a painting of the jar a couple of months ago without any design). Now I am glad I tried.  Took me about 2 1/2 hours on the jar, which is slow even for me.  On the second day I added the rose, the background, and the base.  The rose, as with all flowers, was a challenge for me.  I always seem to struggle with the subtlties and nuances needed to paint a (white) flower.  Anyway, hope you all like the painting (sorry for the  poor picture quality) and thanks for stopping by.

(Plein Air) Emerald Lake

8x10 oil on gesso board
We are spending the weekend with my wife's parents in northern Arkansas.  Emerald lake sits at the back of their property.  We spent most of the weekend taking the kids (we have four) fishing and out in the boat.  However, I snuck away for a couple of hours this afternoon and tried to paint a cove in the lake.  Got a nice sunburn for my efforts (my first attempt at plein air painting).  Not sure how I feel about this picture. I am (obviously) not a landscape painter.  It was fun nevertheless. Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for stopping by.
