About Me

My first memory of recognizing "art" came from watching my mother paint with Bob Ross in our liviing room when I was about six years old. Although my mother is now deceased, I often look back on the few of her paintings that survive and am immediately taken back to that moment of my childhood.

I have spent a long time trying to figure out why eactly I feel the need to paint (and it is indeed a need). And in the end it always goes back to those paintings from my mother--she created something that outlasted her; something that immediately remind people of her.  A lasting memory, so to speak.

Which brings me to my art. I am for lack of a better term a realist painter. A realist but not a copyist. My purpose is to capture the essence of what I am painting, be it a still life, a landscape, or a person.  I hope my paintings evoke feelings inside of my viewers, but I am not trying to make any statement with my paintings. Symbolism in art may be what's in vogue, but it not me at all.

Thanks for looking at my art. I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I do. -Charles
